Feds Approve 1st Solar Project On Public Land – First Solar’s (FSLR) Silver State

American Superconductor (AMSC) Announces SolarTie Solution Targeting Utility Scale Solar Plants

American Superconductor (AMSC) announced this morning its new SolarTie Grid Interconnection Solution which combines its D-VAR STATCOM and PowerModule power conversion systems for a fully optimized solution to target utility scale solar plants.  It’s expected to be a $2 billion market within the next five years.

Satcon (SATC) Launches Next Gen Solar Power Inverter, Equinox

Satcon Technology (SATC) is having a good day today.  The stock is breaking out to a new 52 week high after announcing a deal with a 63MW solar plant for its Solstice system and have also announced the launch of their next generation solar power inverter, the Satcon Equinox.  The new inverter builds upon the success of the industry leading PowerGate inverter offering improved efficiencies up to 98.5%.

General Electric (GE) Announces Availability Of Solar Products

Satcon Technology (SATC) Solstice Product Selected For 63MW Solar Plant In Puerto Rico

Satcon Technology (SATC) is surging in pre-market trading on news the CIRO One 63MW solar plant to be built in Puerto Rico will use 126 of Satcon’s Solstice 500kW power harvesting and management solution.  The technology increases the overall energy yield of solar installations by 5 – 12% and reduces system material costs by 20 – 25% compared to a centralized inverter system.  Construction of the plant is expected to begin this month.  No … Read the rest

Suntech (STP) Opens 1st US Solar Production Plant

Suntech Power (STP) first announced it was opening a US solar manufacturing plant back in January and now it’s official.  The company announced on Friday that it has begun production at its new plant in Goodyear, Arizona with an initial capacity of 30MW with a plan to expand to 50MW next year and to 120MW within a few years.

Collins Stewart Upgrades JKS, STP; UBS Upgrades LDK

The good news continues to flow from the solar space and this morning is no exception.  We had the raised guidance from LDK, CSIQ reiterating its guidance and ASTI announcing an important thin film certification

Adding fuel to the fire are upgrades out of Collins Stewart and UBS.  UBS upgraded LDK Solar (LDK) following its guidance raise from Neutral to Buy and now has a $12 price target on the stock.

Ascent Solar (ASTI) Soars On Thin Film BIPV Certification

Solarfun (SOLF) EPC Contractor For 8MW Solar Plant In China

Solarfun Power (SOLF) announced an EPC contract with Guangdong Guohua to design, engineer, build and supply the solar modules for an 8.1MW solar power plant in Heyuan City, China.

The plant which is subsidized by the national Golden Sun program is expected to be operational by the end of this year and cover 74 acres.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Reiterates Q3, Full Year Guidance

Not only did Canadian Solar (CSIQ) announce a new CFO in Andrew Chen, but the company has reiterated its Q3 and full year shipments guidance this morning.

For Q3 the company expects shipments between 190 – 200MW and gross margins of 14.5 – 15.5% and full year shipments at the mid to high range of the previous guidance of 700 – 800MW.
