A-Power Energy (APWR) Signs Another EPC Contract ($16.4 Million)

A-Power Energy (APWR) is on a bit of a roll of late securing nearly $50 million in EPC contracts.  A couple days ago the company announced a $32 million contract with Hainan Century Light for a biomass plant and last night the company announced it has signed a $16.4 million contract with Handan Fengfeng Pengtong Coking for a power generation project which includes a coke oven gas boiler and a 15MW steam turbine generator.  … Read the rest

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Inks 3YR, 220MW Solar Modules Contract With Solarstrom AG

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) is announcing a big order this morning with Germany’s Solarstrom AG (this was actually originally announced over a week ago by SAG).  Yingli will supply 220MW in solar modules to the big German solar developer over the next three years.  The two companies have been working together for more than five years and Yingli is a preferred supplier of SAG.  No word on the financials of the deal.

American Superconductor (AMSC) Hit On Negative Barrons Article

Kandi Technologies (KNDI) In Discussions To Build Electric Car Network In Another Chinese City (Hangzhou)

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Lands 19MW In Solar Park Deals In Ontario

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) has announced it has inked a deal with SkyPower, one of Canada’s largest owners and develops of solar energy projects.  CSIQ will be the EPC provider for two projects totaling 19MW in Ontario, both of which are expected to be completed within about 7 months.

Philips (PHG) Sees LED Making Up 15% Of Lighting Revenues This Year, Goal Of 50% By 2015

LED lighting products are an increasingly important revenue driver for Philips (PHG) with 10% of revenues coming from LED last year, 15% this year and potentially over 20% next year.  The company’s  goal is 50% of lighting revenues from LED by 2015 and 75% by 2020.  The company is continuing to look to grow through acquisitions which include purchases of lighting vendors PLI and Genlyte.  Philips executive Edward Po noted that LEDs are quickly taking … Read the rest

A-Power Energy shareholders could use some good news and they are getting it this morning with news of a $32.5 million EPC contract with Hainan Century Light to build a biomass plant.  The project has already begun (last month) and is expected to continue for about 15 months.  That equates to a bit over $6 million a quarter in revenues which is less than 10% what the company does in a quarter to put the … Read the rest

Sunpower (SPWRA) To Build 20MW Solar Plant For Iberdrola Renewables Copper Crossing Project

Last month Sunpower (SPWRA) announced a deal with Iberdrola Renewables to design and build a 30MW solar plant and  this morning comes news of a 20MW solar plant for Iberdrola in Arizona.  Sunpower will use its Oasis Power Plant product which integrates its E19 panels with tracking technology and all the cabling.  It’s designed to deploy quickly.  Iberdrola will own and operate Copper Crossing.

Jefferies Sees Germany Solar Cap Fears As Overblown, Top Picks Are TSL, YGE, SATC, JASO

According to Barrons, Jefferies believes that fears about a slow down in solar business in Germany due to caps on investments in renewable energy are overblown and that Germany is committed to making clean energy 18% of total energy consumption within the next 10 years.
