Ascent Solar just announced the release of a new product line called FlexPower TM. The Flexpower line is exciting because it has the best power-to-weight ratio in the industry and has the highest power density of any flexible solar module.

Suntech (STP) Announces North American Sales Partner Program

Suntech just announced that it will be implementing a new North American sales partner program, designed to attract more installers and help affiliated dealers increase sales. Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) To Provide Laminates For Austin’s Largest Solar Rooftop

Energy Conversion Devices just announced that their Uni-Solar Laminates have been selected by Austin Energy for a 136-kW rooftop solar installation at Austin Water Utility’s Glen Bell Service Center. The installation, the largest solar rooftop installation in Austin, will consist of 1,000 Uni-Solar laminates and cover 23,250 square feet of roof space.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Sets Performance Record For PTC Ratings In P-Type Silicon Modules

Canadian Solar just announced that its CS5A and CS5P series have set a new record for PTC ratings in P-Type silicon modules, earning rating of ratings of 190 and 250 watts in tests designed to simulate real-world power generation conditions.

Canadian Solar also announced that its new Enhanced Selective Emitter (ESE) technology, which enhances the performance of solar cells, has been tested successfully.

Ascent Solar (ASTI) To Supply FTL Solar

Ascent Solar just announced that they will be supplying FTL Solar with solar modules to use in its research and development contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. Under the contract, FTL will work on developing lighter, more flexible solar energy production systems using Ascent’s modules.

China Sunergy (CSUN) Signs Agreement With Opsun

China Sunergy just announced that it has signed a solar products framework agreement with Opsun, a Canadian company that makes solar panels, mounting systems and solar concentrators. Under the agreement, China Sunergy will deliver 100 MW of solar cells and modules to Opsun between 2009 and 2014.

MEMC Electronics (WFR) Diversifies With Purchase Of SunEdison

MEMC Electronic (WFR) announced today it’s diversifying its business with the $200 million purchase of the largest North American solar services provider SunEdison.  The payout will include cash and options and is expected to close by the end of the year and begin contributing to earnings in the second half of 2010.

SunPower (SPWRA) Posts Strong Results But Sinks AH

Sunpower (SPWRA) kicked off the solar earnings season tonight with a strong quarter, beating analyst estimates by a wide margin and matching the whisper number of .42/share.  Revenues also came in better than expected at $466 million vs the estimate of $420 million.  That represents a 26% decrease from the year ago quarter on the earnings side and a 24% increase on the revenue side/  The company guided about in line for the full year … Read the rest

Trina Solar (TSL) Gets 108MW Supply Deal With PROINSO

Trina Solar (TSL) is announcing a new 108MW supply deal this morning with PROINSO, a European distributor of solar equipment.  Shipments are expected to begin soon and continue through the first half of next near with PROINSO having the option to purchase another 12MW in the first quarter of next year.  The solar modules will be sold at predetermined prices and will be used in projects in Spain and Italy.
