JA Solar (JASO) has signed a 29MW solar module supply contract with a new Italian customer. It’s a subsidiary of an unnamed large utility group in Europe and the modules will be supplied this year. The number of Italian supply deals for the Chinese solar manufacturers has picked up in recent months as Italy is expected to replace some the decrease in demand out of Germany.
Solarfun Power (SOLF) has been awarded two Italian contracts totaling 12MW it was announced this morning. One contract for 6MW of solar modules was signed with GranSolarGhella while the other of the same size was signed with Tozzi Renewable Energy. All modules are expected to be delivered in the second half of this year.
It was announced this morning that the Italian subsidiary of Yingli Green Energy (YGE) signed a 6MW solar module sales agreement with Tecno Spot for this year and Tecno has committed to another 10 – 20MW for 2011.
LDK Solar (LDK) is announcing some solar supply deals of its own this morning. The company will supply 50MW of solar modules to Spain’s Enel with 30MW deliverable this quarter and an option for an additional 20MW next quarter.

LDK Solar (LDK) has landed a 20MW solar plant deal with Uni Land of Italy. LDK will develop the plants in 2010 and 2011 and engineer, procure and construct the plants as well as supply the solar modules. Uni Land will finance the operation. It’s also being announced that Uni Land has purchased a 1MW plant from LDK for $7.3 million.

Trina Solar (TSL) is announcing a new 108MW supply deal this morning with PROINSO, a European distributor of solar equipment. Shipments are expected to begin soon and continue through the first half of next near with PROINSO having the option to purchase another 12MW in the first quarter of next year. The solar modules will be sold at predetermined prices and will be used in projects in Spain and Italy.
Trina Solar (TSL) announced after the bell yesterday that it has entered into a 73MW sales agreement with Kerself which is a leading Italian solar company. Trina will supply Kerself with an initial 23MW of PV solar modules in the 4th quarter of this year and another 50MW in the first half of the next year.

Sunpower (SPWRA) has designed and started construction earlier this year of Italy’s largest solar plant, called the Montalto di Casto project, it was announced today. Sunray Renewable Energy is the Italian company working with Sunpower as the developer and owns the project which is being financed, in part, by a consortium of international and Italian banks.
