Ascent Solar just announced the release of a new product line called FlexPower TM. The Flexpower line is exciting because it has the best power-to-weight ratio in the industry and has the highest power density of any flexible solar module.
Flexpower comes in 3 flavors: Light, for the Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) market, Mobile, for charging electronic devices and Extreme for the military and defense. The product line was unveiled at Solar Power International.
In a press release, Farhad Moghadam, President and CEO for Ascent Solar, commented on Flexpower:
“This is an exciting event for Ascent Solar as we unveil our line of products to the public. Our
ability to manufacture monolithically integrated flexible CIGS modules provides
a unique and enabling solution to various premium market opportunities.
FlexPowerTM is not only a brand name, but it also best represents our
manufacturing capability at Ascent Solar.”
ASTI is one of the most underestimated solar company. It may be because a host of financial analysts really do not understand much about the Disruptive Technology that Ascent has brought into play and are only focused on what their current revenues are (negligible). The company will be in the black in mid 2010, by which time it may be too late for many retail investors. Meanwhile, the big players are holding the price of the stock down. It is one amazing solar company, quite unrivaled, I think.
