STR Holdings (STRI) Doubles Its Malaysia Capacity To 2GW

STR Holdings (STRI) is up and running at its newly expanded Malaysia plant to meet the growing demand for its solar encapsulant materials.  The plant capacity was doubled from 1GW to 2GW and the company has announced they will add another 1GW of capacity next year which would bring the total global capacity to 7.35GW.

“Increasing the production capacity at our Malaysia facility is an important part of our strategic effort to grow our business in Asia and further our ‘One plus China’ growth strategy,” said Dennis L. Jilot, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of STR Holdings. “We continue to experience strong growth in Asia and our capacity expansion will aid in increasing our market share in this region, both with existing and new customers.”

Shares of STRI are up about 3% today and continue to look quite bullish following its IPO last year.  It’s currently carving out a nice cup with handle base pattern.
