Ascent Solar (ASTI) Chosen by Cambrios Technologies For Flexible Solar Cell Army Contract
Ascent Solar just announced that it has been chosen by Cambrios Technologies to be a research partner for Cambrios’ contract from the U.S. Army’s Natick research facility. Under the contract, Cambrios, which has distinguished itself by developing unique, wet-processed, transparent conductive films, will look for ways to apply these films to copper-indium-gallium-selenium (CIGS) photovoltaics to create more efficient solar cells.

New Solar Installation by FPL (FPL) And Sunpower (SPWRA) Opens On Florida’s Space Coast
FPL just announced that its new FPL’s Space Coast Next Generation Solar Energy Center has opened at Kennedy Space Center. The 10 MW facility consists of about 35,000 SunPower solar PV panels. SunPower designed and built the installation for FPL and NASA, who worked as partners on the project. Over the life of the panels, the center is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 227,000 tons.

Trina Solar (TSL) In 2.2MW Thailand Solar Supply Deal
Trina Solar (TSL) has announced a new solar supply deal this morning. Its subsidiary Changzhou Trina Solar is partnering with Grenzone of Singapore which is a solar integrator working across southeast Asia. Trina will supply solar nearly 10K modules beginning this month for a 2.2MW solar power plant in Thailand which is expected to come online in August.

Satcon Technology (SATC) Announces 150MW Order from GCL Solar Limited
GCL Solar Limited has just ordered 150 MW worth of 500kW solar PV inverters from Satcon Technology, according to a company announcement from Satcon. Satcon is scheduled to deliver the inverters in April through October of this year.
The two companies established a partnership in 2009 and have worked together on projects including China’s largest rooftop (MW) and largest ground-mounted (20MW) installations.
