According to Bloomberg, the Nation Development & Reform Commission in China has said that it will reduce its 2020 target for nuclear power from 80GW, but didn’t say by how much. The beneficiary? Solar power companies. The commission plans to increase its solar power capacity estimate for 2020 from 20GW, but also didn’t specify by exactly how much.

Yingli Green Energy just announced that it will be collaborating with Innovalight, a company that sells highly efficient solar products based on silicon ink. The goal of the collaboration is to help Yingli boost the efficiency of its own solar cells.
SunPower and Solar Ventures just announced that they have signed a new contract to partner on the design and construction of 3 new solar power plants to be located in Italy’s Piedmont region. The plants will have a combined capacity of 11.1 MW. The project is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

Canadian Solar just announced that the 1 MW solar energy project it built in Saxony with Green City Energy was completed in a record time of 2 months of construction. The system consists of panels installed on 16 rooftops, covering a surface area of 17,000 square meters. Since the project was finished before June 30th, it is exempt from the reductions in feed-in tariffs for PV systems.
According to , ABB Ltd just announced that it has received an order worth $50M from Actelios to design, engineer supply and commission 3 Italian solar PV plants with a capacity of over 13MW total.
The first plant will be a 6MW plant located in Spinasanta, followed by a 3.8 MWn plant at Cardonita and a 3.3MW plant at Sugherotorto . All plants are expected to be online by the end of this year.
Veeco just announced that the State of Minnesota has awarded them $800,000 worth of matching funds for a 1.5 year project to help Veeco’s copper, indium, gallium and selenium deposition equipment technology for solar panel manufacturers move more quickly to market. Veeco’s technology is designed to reduce manufacturing costs for solar panels and bring them closer to grid parity. The funds were awarded as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
