An awful earnings report out of JA Solar (JASO) this evening with the company missing analyst EPS estimates by a wide margin and reporting a record quarterly loss of .22/share. Ouch. Revenues came in at $413 million vs the estimate for $418 million. The cause? You guessed it.. a slow down in Germany and policy changes in Italy not to mention increasing economic uncertainty.

JA Solar (JASO) is seeing a nice pop in the early going this morning after reporting better than expected Q1 results. The company reported a non GAAP EPS of .40/share on revenues of $556 million. That’s a beat on both the top and bottom line and represents significant quarter over quarter growth of 67% and 91% respectively.
JA Solar (JASO) and Jabil Circuit (JBL) have inked a deal on a two year joint venture which has JASO supplying 400MW in solar cells as well as module designs. The deal allows Jabil to manufacture 200MW per year in solar modules with JASO at Jabil facilities in China, Poland and Mexico. Two solar industry heavyweights announced a 50/50 joint venture for solar cell production in China today. JA Solar (JASO) and MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) will build and operate a solar cell production facility in China with phase 1 calling for 250MW of capacity which may be expanded up to 1GW.

It was announced today that JA Solar (JASO) will invest a bit more than $2 billion in a massive capacity expansion in the city of Hefei. JA Solar (JASO) joined Trina Solar (TSL) in posting strong earnings results. The company beat analyst estimates by posting an EPS of .59/share on revenues of $585 million vs the analyst estimate for .48 in EPS on revenues of $570 million. That’s good for quarter over quarter growth of 392% and 145% respectively. The company reported record shipments of 463MW during the quarter which doubled the year ago quarterly output.
