It has stabilized though and holding steady in the 155 – 157 range. MEMC Electronics (WFR) and Q-Cells of Germany have established a joint venture to build large solar parks it was announced tonight. The equally owned park is in Strasskirchen, and is believed to be the largest ground mounted PV system in the country to use crystalline solar cells with a total capacity of 50MW. That was some reversal in First Solar (FSLR) after hours! The stock ran up to over $190 following the headline results of the quarter in which the company absolutely destroyed estimates, but reversed sharply after the company revealed pricing pressure and financing constraints in Germany. Evergreen Solar (ESLR) Matches Estimates, Shares Down AH
Evergreen Solar (ESLR) posted a non GAAP EPS loss of .08/share which matched analyst estimates on revenue that was slightly higher than estimates at $63.8 million. Considering the company nearly tripled revenues over the previous quarter, it looks like traders expected a better EPS. This is a company that clearly needs to get costs under control.

First Solar (FSLR) Blows It Out, Smashes Estimates With EPS Of 2.11, UP 10% AH
Wow, what a tremendous quarter once again out of First Solar (FSLR). The company not only smashed analyst estimates of $1.63, but smashed the whisper number of $1.85 by posting an EPS of 2.11, nearly a 150% surge over the year ago quarter. EMCORE Corporation (EMKR) Awarded Solar Contract By Boeing (BA)
EMCORE just announced that it is working with Boeing Corporation and other leading companies on the Fast Access Spacecraft Testbed (FAST) program for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The project aims to develop a power generation system capable of creating 175 kilowatts of power. The system would be used to power spacecraft for ultra-high-power communications, space radar, satellite transfer and servicing missions. EMCORE will supply solar components for the system. Solarfun (SOLF) In Supply Agreement With Nobility Solar Projects
Solarfun just announced a supply agreement with Nobility Solar Projects. Under the agreement, Solarfun will supply Nobility with 14.2MW of PV modules, with the transaction to take place in the latter part of this year.

In an attempt to spur the export of US made solar products, Evergreen Solar (ESLR) is getting a boost from the Export-Import Bank of the US which is providing low interest financing (4.9% fixed over 18 yrs) for overseas projects using ESLR panels produced domestically. PG&E (PCG) Adds Another 48MW Of Solar Power From Sempra Energy (SRE)
PG&E (PCG) will purchase another 48MW of thin film solar energy from Sempra Energy, produced at its Copper Mountain facility. Last year, PG&E purchased all 10MW of the output at the El Dorado plant from Sempra.
“This agreement represents a major step forward for Sempra Generation in the development of the largest operational photovoltaic solar power installation in North America,” said Michael W. Allman, CEO of Sempra Generation.

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Breaks Ground On RMB 6 Billion Industry Park
According to Pacific Epoch, Yingli Green Energy (YGE) has broken ground on a new RMB 6 billion (a bit less than $1 billion) industry park that will house a 800MW per year crystalline solar project with a completion date set for Dec of next year. It will more than double the company’s yearly output to 1400MW and generate potential sales of more than $2 billion per year.
