Aerovironment just announced that it has received a phase II contract extension from DARPA for its nano air vehicle development program. For the program, Aerovironment has developed an air vehicle with two flapping wings that carries its own energy, and successfully tested the vehicle in December of last year. The contract extension, which provides an additional $2.1 million and runs through 2010, will enable further development of this concept.

Applied Materials just announced that it is entering into an expanded collaborative relationship with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Applied Materials and IIT, Applied Materials will donate $1.5 million to IIT over the next three years. This amount is in addition to previous donations made by Applied Materials.
Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies just announced that it has entered a distribution deal with BlueLinx. Under the agreement, BlueLinx will distribute Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies’ Moisture Shield line of decking products in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Alaska and Hawaii. BlueLinx has a network of 70 company-owned warehouses and even more third=party warehouses located in cities across the country.

Otter Tail Power Company just announced that it will build a new wind farm in North Dakota, close to Lake Ashtabula. The project will cost $110 million. When it is completed next year, it will generate 49.5 MW power.
