AeroVironment (AVAV) Receives UL Listing For Home Electric Car Charging Station

Aerovironment (AVAV) To Supply "Quick Charging" System For THINK Electric Vehicles

THINK City just announced that it will be working with Aerovironment to create a new fast-charge system for the Think City Electric vehicle. The goal? 80% charge in 15 minutes! Nissan Selects Aerovironment (AVAV) For LEAF Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Aerovironment (AVAV) Sells 8 Electric Vehicle Power Cycling/Test Systems To Ener1 (HEV)

Yesterday it was announced that Ener1 (HEV) will use a portion of the stimulus funds it received to purchase eight electric car power cycling and test systems from Aerovironment (AVAV) to expand the company’s test capabilities at its Indiana facility.  The systems are designed to simulate real world driving by repeatedly charging and discharging the lithium batteries.  No word on the financials of the deal.

Aerovironment (AVAV) Awarded Patent For Smart Grid Battery Technology

Aerovironment just announced that it has been awarded a patent for technology that manages charging, control and maintenance of batteries for battery packs, chargers and electric vehicles that can be connected to and controlled by a smart grid. The technology allows the rate of charge to be analyzed and optimized for the best possible performance. Although it was developed for Aerovironment’s commercial PosiNETâ„¢ system, it could eventually be used by private consumers as well.

Army Testing Aerovironment’s (AVAV) New 800kW EV Charger

Aerovironment (AVAV) Gets Phase II Contract Extension from DARPA

Aerovironment just announced that it has received a phase II contract extension from DARPA for its nano air vehicle development program. For the program, Aerovironment has developed an air vehicle with two flapping wings that carries its own energy, and successfully tested the vehicle in December of last year. The contract extension, which provides an additional $2.1 million and runs through 2010,  will enable further development of this concept.

Aerovironment (AVAV) Beats On EPS & Revenues, Sees Opportunity In Defense & Electric Cars Infrastructure

Aerovironment (AVAV) is pushing higher in after hours trading after beating both EPS and revenue estimates by a small margin.  While EPS came in 10% lower than the year ago quarter, it did beat analyst estimates by a penny a share.  Revenues increased 18% over the year ago quarter and also beat estimates (by about 5%).  The company attributed the revenue increase to stronger sales in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (up $9.4 million) and Efficient … Read the rest

AeroVironment (AVAV) Partners With Nissan and District of Columbia

AeroVironment just announced that it will be cooperating with Nissan and the District of Columbia to set up an electric car infrastructure in DC. The plan is to build a network of AeroVironment’s PosiCharge charging stations for the city’s fleet of electric vehicles, and make them available to regular citizens to encourage them to buy electric cars of their own.
