American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) Celebrates $445 Million Sinovel Order

American Superconductor Corporation has just announced the signing of a multi-year agreement with Sinovel worth $445 million. Per the new 30-month contract, AMSC will begin shipping core turbine electrical components early next year, when the company’s current contract with Sinovel expires.

A-Power (APWR) Subsidiary Awarded $1.7 Million Solar Contract

According to this press release, A-Power just announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, EVATECH, has been awarded a $1.7 million contract by an unnamed a Chinese leading renewable energy company. Under the terms of the agreement, EVATECH will design, build and install one set of photovoltaic solar machines, which it is expected to ship on May 31, 2010. The Chinese company has already made a downpayment.

Altairnano (ALTI) Nets Battery Contract With Proterra

After 18 months of demonstration and testing, it’s official: Altairnano just snagged a contract with Proterra, a company that makes EV and electric buses, worth $898,400. Under the agreement, Altairnano will supply Proterra with its advanced batteries, each of which contain Altairnano’s 1P10S module configuration.  In fuel economy equivalency tests at the University of Pennsylvania, electric buses using these batteries were able to obtain 20 miles per gallon- a 400 percent improvement over buses that … Read the rest

Suntech (STP) Signs Contract With Recurrent Energy

Suntech just announced that they have signed a supply contract with Recurrent Energy. Under the contract, Suntech will supply Recurrent with more than 25,000 modules. Recurrent will use these to construct a 5 MW solar installation on top of San Franscisco’s Sunset Reservoir. Uranerz (URZ) Signs Uranium Supply Contract With Exelon (EXC)

Uranerz just announced that it has signed a uranium supply contract with Exelon Generation Company, LLC. The contract covers a 5-year period includes defined pricing each year. Change To Hoku (HOKU) Polysilicon Agreement With Tianwei

Hoku just announced an amendment to its polysilicon agreement with Tianwei New Energy Wafer Co Ltd. The amendment relieves Hoku of its upcoming shipping obligations in exchange for an 8 percent reduction in the price of the polysilicon.

Aerovironment (AVAV) Gets Phase II Contract Extension from DARPA

Aerovironment just announced that it has received a phase II contract extension from DARPA for its nano air vehicle development program. For the program, Aerovironment has developed an air vehicle with two flapping wings that carries its own energy, and successfully tested the vehicle in December of last year. The contract extension, which provides an additional $2.1 million and runs through 2010,  will enable further development of this concept.

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Signs Sales Agreement With China Mobile, Will Supply Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. With PV Modules

Yingli Green Energy just announced that it has signed a sales agreement with China Mobile’s Shanxi subsidiary. China Mobile is building a video monitoring system in Shanxi to help catch forest fires, and Yingli will provide them with off-grid PV modules to help power the system.  Under the contract, Yingli will provide a total of 269 units, which will provide .49 MW of power.

EMCORE (EMKR) Wins Contract With NASA

EMCORE Corporation has just announced that it has a contract with NASA to produce solar panels for NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement spacecraft. The spacecraft will study precipitation (rain, snow and ice) around the world, and is scheduled to launch in 2013. First Solar (FSLR) Signs Supply Agreement With Lend Lease

First Solar and Lend Lease just announced that they have signed a new supply agreement. Under the contract, first Solar will supply Lend Lease with 10 MW worth of solar panels, starting right away. Lend Lease will use these panels in the construction of homes in Australia.
