NRG Energy’s (NRG) New Wind Farm Now Producing Power

NRG Energy just announced that the new Langford Wind Farm in San Angelo, Texas has begun to purchase power commercially. The 150 MW windfarm, developed by NRG subsidiary Padoma Power, is expected to produce enough energy each year to power more than 100,000 homes. All power will be sold into the ERCOT system.

In a company press release, David Crane, President and CEO of NRG Energy, commented on the news:

“The Langford Wind Power Project expands our renewable portfolio, giving NRG more valuable emission-free generation capacity in Texas. Adding this clean wind generating capacity reduces the overall greenhouse gas intensity of NRG’s fleet and enables us to supply Reliant Energy zero-emission energy which it can offer to retail customers in Texas.”
