Telvent (TLVT) To Provide Technology For Spain Light Rail System

Telvent (TLVT) announced it will provide its SmartMobility Light Rail Solution for the new light rail system in Spain’s Bay of Cadiz which is expected to go live sometime in 2011.  The contract is valued at around $24 million and will require TLVT to install its proprietary automatic ticketing system, traveler info system, CC television surveillance, intercoms, light rail signaling and communications network.

Telvent is a worldwide leader in smart transportation systems and has participated in light rail systems in Madrid, Barcelona, Mexico City and Morocco.  As light rail becomes an increasingly popular way to ease urban congestion and pollution, TLVT should benefit big time in the years to come.
