LDK Solar (LDK) finished last week with a resounding thud and looks like it’s on a fast track to test the 2010 lows. The company reiterated its guidance for Q1 and the full year, but announced it is postponing a bond offering to raise cash. The company will report official earnings results on Tuesday after the bell.
Tri-Tech Holding (TRIT) smashed analyst estimates after the bell tonight reporting an EPS of .21/share (vs the estimate for just .13/share) on revenues of $17.5 million (vs the estimate for $9.3 million). That represents quarter over quarter EPS and revenue growth of 40% and 314% respectively. A real nice quarter out of TRIT tonight despite lower margins due to a decline in higher margin software sales and the lower margin Ordos project.
As expected, bioplastics extraordinaire Cereplast (CERP) reported another quarterly loss which matched analyst estimates. The company reported a loss of .12/share on revenues of $7.2 million. The quarter represented a big spike in quarterly revenues as the company expands rapidly in Europe. With plans for a new plant in Italy, the expansion should continue quickly as many municipalities move to ban petroleum based plastic bags.
Axiom Capital who has long been bearish on First Solar (FSLR) and wrote last week that there was little chance of FSLR getting funding from the DOE for its large solar project is now changing its tune a bit. Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT) posted its earnings results yesterday smashing analyst estimates on the EPS side (posting .20/share vs the estimate for .10 share) but missed on the revenue side (posting $28.6 million vs the estimate for $32.5 million. The EPS beat was despite a reduction in gross margins due to rising costs particularly in the small capacity lithium battery segment. Shares of EnerNOC (ENOC) got a much needed pop (to the tune of nearly 20%)yesterday after the company announced it expects to receive $275 million in revenue in 2014 in the PJM demand response market. The prediction is based on the results of PJM’s 2014/2015 Reliability Pricing Model Base Residual Auction.

Big news in the LED lighting world. Royal Philips Electronics (PHG) is set to showcase the world’s first LED bulb designed to replace the traditional 75W bulb. The EnduraLED A21 17W LED bulb is expected to use 80% less energy and last 25 times longer. Kandi Technologies (KNDI) sent a letter to shareholders yesterday indicating that in fact the company did have accounting errors, but that they have no impact on revenues for 2009 and 2010. The error affects unit volumes and come as a result of a recategorization of certain models and a translation of China accounting standards to US GAAP. Canadian Solar (CSIQ) announced yesterday that they landed a 81MW deal to sell 81MW of solar modules to fast growing Berlin-based solar developer Saferay. The modules have already begun shipping and the entire order will be shipped by the end of Q3.
Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) reported results this morning that were mixed. The company matched analyst estimates on the EPS side posting a loss of .08/share but revenues fell just a bit short ($1.55 million vs estimate for $1.77 million). The company attributed the revenue shortfall on the timing of larger projects.
