PowerSecure (POWR) has announced this morning $15 million in new LED lighting orders from three major retailers which include reach in case lights, walk in freezer/cooler lights as well as shelf and canopy led lighting. The retailers expect to improve lighting quality while seeing a 70% reduction in energy usage. The PowerSecure brand of LED lighting is specifically engineered with retailers in mind to improve the customer experience.

The company reported results right about inline with what analysts expected with a non GAAP EPS of .25/share which is a 58% decrease over the year ago quarter on revenues of $269 million, also inline. Cree Inc (CREE) Drops AH After $500 Million Purchase Of Ruud Lighting, But Creates Indoor/Outdoor LED Powerhouse
Cree Inc (CRFE) has taken a bold step after hours in order to further expand its role as LED leader with a purchase of Wisconsin based Ruud Lighting which specializes in outdoor LED lighting. In my opinion great move from Cree since LED lighting may be adopted on a wider scale first in the outdoor setting. The acquisition creates a powerhouse in the indoor and outdoor LED arenas.
Philips (PHG) Unveiled First LED Bulb To Replace Standard 75W Bulb
Big news in the LED lighting world. Royal Philips Electronics (PHG) is set to showcase the world’s first LED bulb designed to replace the traditional 75W bulb. The EnduraLED A21 17W LED bulb is expected to use 80% less energy and last 25 times longer. Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) Soars On News Lowe’s Will Carry LED Bulbls
Shares of Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) are popping nearly 25% this morning on news that Lowe’s will carry their premium LED bulbs beginning in June in 1100 stores across the US. Seventeen LED bulbs will be offered including Par 38, R30, R16, GU10 and MR-16 all of which have qualified for the ENERGY STAR rating.

Philips (PHG): “LED Will Represent 1/2 Of Global Lighting Market Within 5 YRS”
