So Cal Edison Signs Power Purchase Agreement With First Solar (FSLR) For Silver State South Project

Southern California Edison (SCE) has signed a power purchase agreement with First Solar (FSLR) for 250MW of solar electricity from the FSLR Silver State South project.  The project will consist of 2500 ground mounted solar panels on 2500 acres of public land near Primm, Nevada.  It will interconnect with with SCE’s proposed Eldorado Ivanpah transmission line.  The project is expected to begin producing electricity by 2014 and fully operational by 2017, but still requires approval … Read the rest

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) To Supply 20MW Of Solar Modules To US Based Borrego Systems

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) announced it  has signed a new 20MW solar module supply agreement with San Diego-based Borrego Solar Systems Inc. for 2011 which will be used in commercial projects across the US.  Borrego Solar isn’t a stranger to Yingli.  They bought 10MW from Yingli last year.

US Electric Car Stocks Up On $7500 Rebate Proposal (TSLA, AONE, HEV)

It was a good day for US based electric car stocks today, particularly Tesla Motors (TSLA) which surged nearly 7% on news that Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow wants to replace the $7500 tax credit for electric vehicles with an instant $7500 rebate.

Another Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) LED Product Approved By Energy Star

Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) announced earlier today that its best selling LED bulb, the MR16, was also approved as an ENERGY STAR Qualified LED light bulb recently.  The bulb uses just 3.3watts of produce over 150 lumens.  The company’s R16 and GU10 products are also approved under ENERGY STAR guidelines and is awaiting approval for other LED products.

A123 Systems (AONE) Lands 20MW Lithium Battery Storage Deal With AES Energy (AES)

A123 Systems (AONE) has signed a deal with AES Energy (AES) and will supply 20MW in lithium battery storage solutions for a 500MW power plant in Chile.  This is the 2nd project in Chile the two companies have collaborated on.  Currently, all of its battery storage biz comes from AES, so the technology would be further validated with deals with other utilities.  A123’s storage solutions will provide stability to the electric grid in northern Chile, … Read the rest

Suntech Power (STP) Is Supplier For 150MW Sempra Energy Plant

Suntech Power (STP) signed a deal with Sempra Energy worth a few hundred million to supply 150MW in solar panels for Sempra’s Mesquite 1 solar project in Arizona.  Sempra had used First Solar’s thin film panels in the past so this is a big win for Suntech’s technology.  The company recently opened a plant in Arizona to manufacture solar panels, but they indicated that most of the panels will come from China.  Last year Suntech … Read the rest

Esco Technologies (ESE) Beats, Shares Breakout

Esco Technologies (ESE) posted strong results late last week and traders bid up the stock sending shares on a breakout ride above previous resistance.  The company posted an EPS of .40/share vs the analyst estimate of .33/share on revenues of $160 million vs the analyst estimate of $154 million.  It  represents the 4th straight quarter of accelerating EPS and revenue growth.
