China Sunergy (CSUN) & Pythagoras Solar Partner For Advancement Of Solar Windows

China Sunergy (CSUN) and Pythagoras Solar, an Israeli provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products, announced the signing of an agreement to co-market and advance the development and scale manufacturing of BIPV products from 2010-2015 in China. Hedge Funds Increase Green Stocks Short Selling (TSLA, FSLR, SPWRA, AMSC, ZOLT)

Bloomberg reports that short selling in green stocks has been increasing and is nearly four times the short selling in the S&P.  In November, 17% of shares in the 35 stocks that make up the Wilderhill New Energy Index are sold short, up from 16% last month and 15% in September.  That compares with the 4.4% short ratio of the stocks that make up the S&P.

China Bak Battery (CBAK) Misses, CFO Steps Down, Shares Pressured

China BAK Battery (CBAK) posted disappointing results this morning, posting another quarterly loss.  Analysts had expected the company to get back in the black, but instead they posted an .08/share loss.  Net revenues were shy of the analyst estimate as well at $55.6 million (analysts expected $60 million).

Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) Hit On $30 Million Capital Raise

Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT) is down 10% this morning on news the company will raise $30 million by selling 7.5 million shares at a price of $4/share.  The company will also issue warrants that when fully exercised could provide another $15 million in capital.  The company plans to use the proceeds for acquisitions and manufacturing capacity.

Trina Solar (TSL) Beats By Wide Margin, Raises Guidance, But Not Enough

Trina Solar (TSL) as expected has posted impressive Q3 results this morning, but it’s not enough and the stock is trading down more than 5%.  The company reported an an EPS of $1.08/share which is well ahead of the analyst estimate of .87/share on revenues of $508 million vs the analyst estimate of just $420 million.  Solar shipments came in much better than the previous estimate of 250 – 260MW at 290MW and gross margins … Read the rest

Zoltek (ZOLT) Plunges AH On Revenue Miss, But CEO Remains Optimistic

Zoltek (ZOLT) has made a habit out of reporting disappointing earnings results and they did it again after the bell today.  While the company posted a bit narrower loss than what analysts expected (.01) vs analyst estimate of (.02), they missed significantly on the revenue side, posting $31 million vs the estimate for $43 million.  The CEO blamed the poor performance on the shift in production capacity of its biggest customer Vestas Wind, currency fluctuations … Read the rest

Vestas Wind (VWDRY) Selects Broadwind Energy (BWEN) Wind Towers For Glacier Hills Project

Broadwind Energy (BWEN) it was selected by Vestas Wind (VWDRY) to be the wind tower supplier for the Glacier Hills Wind Park in Wisconsin.  The 90 turbine project is expected to  generate enough renewable electricity to power nearly 50K homes.
