BorgWarner just announced that it has been chosen by JCB Power Systems to provide turbochargers for use in vehicles made for off-highway applications, such as construction and agriculture. JCB Power Systems will use BorgWarner’s astegate and variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers in the newest Dieselmax 4.4-Liter engine models beginning in 2012. BorgWarner’s technology will help JCB Power Systems produce engines that have the necessary power for off-highway applications and that meet new emissions requirements mandating a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions.
In a press release, Roger Wood, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems, commented on the news:
“BorgWarner VTG turbochargers enable medium-and heavy-duty commercial diesel engines to comply with increasingly stringent global emissions standards while achieving better fuel economy. We are pleased to work with JCB Power Systems to develop optimal solutions to the challenges posed by Interim Tier 4 emissions standards.”
