Solarfun (SOLF) Announces 12.65 MW In PV Module Orders

Solarfun Power (SOLF) is surging 4% in premarket trading after announcing it has (had) won three contracts to supply a total of 12.65 MW in PV modules for projects in China, most of which is for a project in Xuzhou City.  The 10MW for this project were already delivered last quarter and the additional 2.65MW is for a government funded project in Anhui Province which are expected to be delivered sometime this year … Read the rest

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Signs Sales Agreements In Spain

Yingli Green Energy just announced that it has signed 5 sales agreements with Spanish customers, for a total of 30 MW. All 30 MW are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2010.

Ascent Solar (ASTI) Developing New Product Line

Ascent Solar is developing a new BIPV product line for use on standing seam metal roofs. Ascent is working with Energy Peak to test and perfect the product; both companies expect production to begin in the first half of this year and that Energy Peak will be able to buy modules and use them in roofing projects by the second half.

Wells Fargo (WFC) Upgraded FPL Group (FPL) To Outperform

Hoku Materials (HOKU) Amends Supply Deal With Shanghai Alex New Energy

Hoku Materials just announced that it has amended a polysilicon supply contract with Shanghai Alex New Energy. Under the amended agreement, polysilcon amounts and financial details will stay the same, but the due date for delivery of the first shipment will be moved from the first quarter of 2010 to the third quarter of 2010.

SunEdison (WFR) To Build PV Installations in New Mexico For Xcel (XEL)

SunEdison, a subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials, just announced that it has been selected by Xcel Energy’s subsidiary Southwestern Public Service Company to build five 10 MW solar PV installations in New Mexico, for a total of 50 MW of solar power.

Under the terms of the agreement, SunEdison will finance and build the installations and Xcel will buy the power under a 20-year purchase agreement.

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) Buys Stake In Eversol

MEMC Electronic Materials just announced that they have acquired an ownership stake in Taiwanese solar wafer manufacturer Eversol. To start with, MEMC Electronic Materials amended a contract with Gintech to allow it to purchase Gintech’s 8.36% interest in Eversol at the price Gintech originally paid for it. Then, MEMC spent 5 million more on an additional 5.1 million shares, meaning that it currently owns a 10.6% stake in the company.

SunPower (SPWRA) Dedicates New Solar Power System At Israeli HP Facility

SunPower just dedicated a new 50-kilowatt rooftop solar power system at HP’s Indigo Division Facility, located in Kiryat-Gat, Israel. The rooftop system was designed and built by Solarpower Ltd, using SunPower panels.

First Solar and EDF Energies Nouvelles just announced that they are in the end stages of talks with the French town of Blanquefort regarding the construction of a new solar panel manufacturing facility.
