Calgon Carbon (CCC) Gets $34 Million Mercury Removal Contract

Calgon Carbon (CCC) announced a total of $34 million in new contracts this morning from 3 electric power companies and one cement plant to reduce their mercury emissions with the use of Calgon’s FLUEPAC activated carbon system.  The contract range from 1 – 5 yrs and can be extended beyond the initial terms.

Tri-Tech Holding (TRIT) Gets $2 Million China Waste Water Treatment Contract

Tri-Tech (TRIT) announced this morning it received a $2 million contract to upgrade (including design, equipment procurement, installation and startup) a wastewater treatment plant in Xinle City which will improve the plant from Class 2 to Class 1A standards, churning out cleaner water in the process.  Not clean enough for drinking however.  Class 1A water is only good enough for irrigation and toilets!  The plant, with a daily capacity of 40K metric tons, will better … Read the rest

Brean Murray Reiterates Buy Rating on Calgon Carbon (CCC), But Lowers Price Target

According to StreetInsider.com, Brean Murray maintains its Buy rating on Calgon Carbon (CCC) but is lowering the price target from 24 to 20.

“Calgon Carbon reported 3Q08 results that were below our estimates. Sales in the quarter of $99.1 million were up 16.7% YoY, but slightly missed our estimate of $102.6 million. Energy Recovery Inc (ERII) Reports Second Quarter Results

Energy Recovery Inc released financial results for the 2nd quarter ending June 30, 2008. The company provides ultra efficient energy recovery products and technology for seawater desalinization. Their financial results have definitely improved over the past year: net revenue is up 247% to $12.0 million, and net income has increased from a loss of .4 million to a profit of $1.8 million.

The Economist.com reported that trading water would help alleviate water shortages.   With water consumption doubling every 20 years, according to Goldman Sachs, lack of water could prove to be a bigger threat to mankind than rising food prices or the depletion of energy resources.
