American Superconductor (AMSC) Misses, Stock Plunges

American Superconductor (AMSC) reported results this morning that didn’t meet analyst expectations.  While revenues doubled over the year ago quarter, gross margins increased and the company continues to narrow its losses, the company reported a loss of .15/share, missing estimates by .09 on revenues of 39.8 million (missed by one million).  However, it should be noted that the losses this quarter included a one time non cash chart of .06 share, so excluding that … Read the rest

Trinity (TRN) Smashes EPS Estimates, Up After Hours

Trinity Industries (TRN) who has a wind tower business that generates about 10% of revenues reported strong results after the bell today, posting earnings of 1.06/share which smashed estimates of .83/share.  Revenues came in below estimates at 945.5 million (about 20 million below) but shares are up after hours anyway on that EPS number.

Kaydon (KDN) Beats Street But Outlook Cautious

Kaydon (KDN), the ball bearings maker (play on wind energy) posted better than expected quarterly profits on strong sales helped by growth in the wind market but its full year outlook was cautious sending the shares down more than 12% and slicing through its 200 day moving average.

A-Power Energy (APWR) Trading Higher on News of Completed Wind Turbine Construction

According to Street Insider, shares of A-Power (APWR) are trading more than 10% higher today on news that the company has completed construction of the first phase of its 310, 000 sq foot wind turbine production facility in Shenyang, China.  CEO Lu said, "We are excited to announce the on-time completion of the first phase of our wind turbine production facility which we believe is the largest wind turbine production facility in China."… Read the rest

General Electric (GE): 4 Billion Invested in Renewable Energy

General Electric (GE) has added 3 new wind farms in upstate New York to its growing portfolio of renewable energy investments which are comprised mostly of wind projects and now total 4 billion (20% of the total).  That represents a 33% increase in renewable energy investments from just 5 months ago and the company is predicting and the 50% increase by 2010.
