A-Power Energy (APWR) Signs Contract for Five 2.7 MW Wind Turbines

Otter Tail Corporation (OTTR) Announces Public Offering Of Common Stock

Otter Tail Corporation announced today that is offering 5,000,000 shares of common stock to the public in order to finance the expansion of existing wind farms and the construction of a new wind farm. The proceeds from the offering will provide the company with funds for the construction of the Ashtabula Wind Center in North Dakota and the expansion of existing facilities in Oklahoma and North Dakota.

AeroVironment (AVAV) Posted Better Than Expected Results

AeroVironment (AVAV), the maker of those rooftop wind turbines, posted earnings results 4 cents better than expectations at .22/share (22% growth over year ago quarter) and revenues nearly 4 million ahead of expectations at 53.6 million (9% growth over year ago quarter).  The company reaffirmed fiscal 09 guidance of 20 – 25% sales growth.… Read the rest

Duke Energy (DUK) Expands Wind Energy Biz

Duke Energy (DUK) has signed a long term 20 year agreement to sell 99 MW (a single megawatt powers about 200 – 300 homes) from its new Wyoming wind farm to PacifiCorp.  Duke will begin building the wind farm early next year which will contain 66 wind turbines generating energy by late 09.  The output will serve customers in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California.

American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) Launches PowerModule PM3000W Converter for Wind Power

American Superconductor Corporation announced the launch of its new PowerModule PM3000W Converter for wind turbines at the HUSUM WindEnergy 2008 industry conference. The new conductor is a breakthrough because it is easily customizable, and can be used in wind turbines with a wide range of generating capacity, from 750 KW to 6 MW. Check out this new initial public offering from First Wind Holdings Inc.  First Wind has applied to take the ticker WNDY on the NASDAQ.   As per the company name, the company is involved in wind energy.

For filing purposes it has listed the amount of $450 Million as the amount in shares that it intends to offer.  Underwriters are listed as Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan.
