Comverge (COMV) Releases New Smart Grid Demand Response System

Comverge just announced the release of its new smart grid demand response system, the Apollo(R) Demand Response Management System. The Apollo can manage both commercial and residential energy needs as well as demand produced by charging plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. This platform will be used in the Progress Energy Carolina EnergyWise(TM) project and by PEPCO Holdings. Robert M. Chiste, Comverge’s chairman, president and CEO, explained the advantages of this new product:

"With Apollo, utilities will be able to further leverage their smart grid investments using a state-of-the-art platform. As the cornerstone of Comverge’s new breed of applications and systems, Apollo will provide our customers with a transitional platform that supports the traditional demand response systems of today yet is capable of integrating AMI and SmartGrid systems of the future," said Bud Vos, Comverge’s Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Vos added, "For the first time, Apollo users will be able to enjoy an integrated experience – ranging from customer service, utility operations, customer portals and program administration – that enables scalable utility operations for the SmartGrid. Comverge welcomes our customers to learn more about the innovative Apollo platform at our DistribuTECH Exhibition booth number 320, where we will be demonstrating Apollo’s unique features. We welcome the opportunity to take this leadership position by introducing Apollo as another important stepping stone to advance AMI and smart grid applications and deployments."
