Yesterday, First Solar (FSLR) and Enbridge (ENR) announced they have achieved commercial operation of the Sarnia Solar Project in Ontario, making it the largest operating solar facility in the world. FSLR will operate and maintain the project for Enbridge which is expected to power nearly 13,000 homes.

Enbridge (ENB) and First Solar (FSLR) announced today an agreement to expand the Sarnia Solar Project from 20MW of capacity to 80MW, which when completed late next year, will make Sarnia the largest solar facility in N America. Enbridge and First Solar just announced that Enbridge will acquire a 20 MW solar energy project that First Solar is constructing near Sarnia, Ontario. When the project is complete at the end of this year, it will be the largest PV solar energy plant in Canada, powering about 3,200 homes.
