SunPower (SPWRA) announced yesterday that they have produced a world record, full sized 333kW solar panel with a 20.4% efficiency rate. The record beating efficiency for a full sized panel was confirmed by the National Renewable Energy Lab. The prototype solar panel was developed using DofE funds under the Solar America Initiative (SAI), awarded two years ago. Ascent Solar (ASTI) Chosen For Solar America Initiative
Ascent Solar just announced that it has been selected for the Solar America Initiative pre-incubator program by the US Department of Energy. This is significant news for Ascent because the project award includes a year-long subcontract valued at approximately $315,000. The Solar America Initiative per-incubator program is brought to you by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Jabil Circuit (JBL) Gets Multi Year Manufacturing Deal With Sunpower (SPWRA), Creating More Green Collar Jobs.. In Mexico
Sunpower (SPWRA) is announcing this morning that Jabil Circuit (JBL) will begin helping the company ramp up solar panel manufacturing for key North American markets and will build the panels in Mexico within a few months. It’s part of a long term strategy to improve customer service and reduce costs.
