Akeena Solar just announced that it has entered a supplier relationship with MS Solar Solutions Corp, a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley. Under the agreement, Akeena Solar will provide MS Solar Solutions with its Andalay AC panels and grant the company a royalty-bearing limited license to manufacture and sell them. MSSS Solar Solutions will use those panels in its efforts to help low-income households across the country get solar power. Akeena Solar will be MSSS’ exclusive supplier of solar panels for the low-income housing project for the next two years.
Akeena Solar CEO Barry Cinnamon commented on the project, saying "This partnership with MS Solar Solutions allows Akeena Solar to expand our distribution of Andalay panels and reach market segments we would not otherwise be able to scalably address as an installer. Together we are able to make clean, renewable energy a reality for low-income residents who could not otherwise benefit from it — an important facet of both Akeena Solar’s and MS Solar Solution’s goal of furthering solar energy adoption."
