Itron (ITRI) has begun a 3 year deployment of 4 million OpenWay smart meter systems for So Co Edison’s residential and small commercial customers.

Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT) Wuxi Autocycle Gets $3.4 Million Electric Scooter/Bike Order

Advanced Battery (ABAT)’s subsidiary Wuxi ZhongQiang (Autcycle) has signed two contracts this morning totaling $3.3 million for customers in Denmark and Indonesia.   One order is for 12,000 electric bikes with a contract value of $2.3 million and the 2nd order is for 2000 electric scooters with a total value of $1.1 million.  Deliver of the order is expected within the month.

Raser (RZ) Runs Into Roadblock At Its Hatch Geothermal Plant

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Raser has run into a roadblock at its Hatch Geothermal Plant. Initially, the company believed that new technology would allow it to harvest power from wells with water temperature of 180 degrees Celsius or higher. EMCORE (EMKR) Gets 3Yr $17 Million Solar Supply Deal With Northrup Grumman (NOC)

EMCORE (EMKR) announced before the close today that they have secured a solar supply deal with Northrup Grumman (NOC) for Northrup’s space based global climate monitoring systems and other satellite missions through 2012.  The deal has a potential value of $17 million.  EMCORE is the leading player for solar applications in space based operations.

Two green stock upgrades this morning in CSIQ and ITRI..

Collins Stewart is upgrading Canadian Solar (CSIQ) to Buy and setting the price target at $21.

Ener1 (HEV) And Volvo Team Up For Volvo C30 Battery Electric Vehicle

The new Volvo C30 Electric Vehicle, the love child of Volvo and Ener1’s subsidiary EnerDel, will be making its debut in Gothenburg, Sweden today. The C30 is a zero emission electric car bmeant for city commuters. It has a 95 mile range between charges, so it can meet the needs of more than 90 percent of European commuters. The lithium-ion battery is made in the USA by Enerdel.

Raser (RZ) Extends Agreement With Financing Partners of Thermo No. 1 Plant

Raser just announced that it has extended the agreement with its Thermo No. 1 financing partners to extend the final  deadline for the completion of the plant from September 15 to October 1st. In addition to this extension agreement, other amendments are expected over the next couple of weeks to accommodate tax law changes in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Applied Materials (AMAT) Announces New Multiple Screen Printing Technology

Applied Materials just announced the release of a new multiple screen printing technology called BacciniEsatto. The new technology works with Applied Materials’ Baccini back-end solar cell processing systems to allow the production of more efficient solar cells. The increases efficiency can be as much as .5% and are achieved by “enabling the fabrication of advanced contact structures,” according to this press release.
