Tri-Tech Holdings (TRIT) Surges After Announcing $20 Million Water Treatment Contract

Traders Bid Up First Solar (FSLR) Despite Mixed Jefferies Comments

Shares of First Solar (FSLR) continue to hang in around the $120 level and today got a much needed jolt higher above that level with volume.  The move is a little surprising considering Jefferies came out with cautious comments on the company saying they believe they will lower guidance when they report earnings in August.  Jefferies lowered Q2 estimates from $.94 to $.90 (below consensus of $1.00).

China Sunergy (CSUN) Announces Major Capacity Expansion To Produce Next Gen Solar Cells

STR Holdings (STRI) Lowers Guidance, Shares Plummet

STRI Holdings (STRI) is hitting new 52 week lows this morning after the company lowered Q2 guidance.  The company now expects revenues in the range of $98 – $101 million vs the previous expectation for $104 – $110 million.  The lowered guidance is a result of lowered expectations for its solar business.   Non GAAP EPS is also expected to come in lower at $.30 – $.32 vs prior guidance of $.38 – $.42.

A123 Systems (AONE) Pops On Morgan Stanley Upgrade, Sees Shares Doubling

After sinking to new all time lows last week, shares of A123 Systems (AONE) are popping higher today on news that Morgan Stanley upgraded to Overweight from Equalweight and raised the price target to $9/share which would be a double from Friday’s closing price.

GT Solar (SOLR) Announces $3.75 Million Order For Sapphire Material From II-VI (IIVI)

GT Solar (SOLR) announced an order earlier this morning for $3.75 million for sapphire material from a subsidiary of II-VI (IIV) to be used in multi-spectral aerospace applications.  Delivery of the material has already begun.  This is a small order for SOLR but highlights the fact that the company can expand beyond just the LED market for its sapphire material.  No wonder the stock still trades up around all time highs and continues its bullish … Read the rest

Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT) Gets $14.7 Million Order For Electric Bikes & Scooters

Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT) needs some good news.  The stock has been punished in recent months on accounting concerns.  Today it got some when the company announced intraday that it received a $14.7 million order on June 1st for 24,000 electric bikes and scooters from Wuxi Hao Jie Vehicle.  The vehicles will be delivered over the course of the next year.  The contract represents about half of a quarters revenue, so significant but not a … Read the rest
