A123 Systems (AONE) announced a supply deal with Smith Electric after the bell today. They will be supplying 5kWh battery modules for all electric commercial trucks beginning in the 2nd half of this year. The first battery modules will be first used in a 7.5 ton electric vehicle used by such companies as Frito-Lay, Staples, Coca Cola as well as the US Marines Corp. No word on the quantity or financials of the deal.
Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) posted its earnings results after the bell tonight that were mixed. The company beat analyst estimates on the EPS side posting a loss of .05/share vs the analyst estimate for a .09/share loss, but missed on the revenue side posting $65.3 million in revenue vs the expectation for $67 million. Broadwind Energy (BWEN) surprised a bit this morning posting a doubling of revenues over the year ago quarter and beating analyst estimates in the process with $43.5 million in revenues. As expected Tesla Motors (TSLA) reported another large quarterly loss, but it was less than analysts expected as the company posted better than expected revenues leading to a small spike in shares today. The company reported an EPS loss of .44/share (vs the expectation for a .53/share loss on revenues of $49 million vs the expectation for $43 million. Perhaps all the concerns about a renewable energy slowdown and concerns in Europe were priced in because despite missing analyst estimates of .21/share by posting .20/share, shares of Power One (PWER) are popping today about 10% with heavy volume. The company did beat analyst estimates on the revenue side with $244.5 million (vs the estimate for $241.8 million).
