Energy Focus (EFOI) To Retrofit Two Navy Ships With LED Lighting

It was announced a couple days ago that Energy Focus (EFOI) received a half million dollar order to retrofit two US Navy destroyers.  EFOI will use its LED Berth lights using IntelliTube technology to replace the existing fluorescent lights reducing power consumption by half and will also replace incandescent bulbs using white, yellow, red and blue LED’s saving 80% energy.

Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) Soars On News Lowe’s Will Carry LED Bulbls

Shares of Nexxus Lighting (NEXS) are popping nearly 25% this morning on news that Lowe’s will carry their premium LED bulbs beginning in June in 1100 stores across the US.  Seventeen LED bulbs will be offered including Par 38, R30, R16, GU10 and MR-16 all of which have qualified for the ENERGY STAR rating.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Announces 3rd Solar Park Project With SkyPower (10MW)

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) had two solar EPC contracts in place with SkyPower Limited to build a 10.5MW and 8.5MW solar park and yesterday they announced a third 10.5MW solar park contract.  This particular park will be located in Thunder Bay at Fort William.  Construction is expected to be completed on all three projects by the end of Q3 and provide enough clean electricity to power 50,000 homes.

Kandi Technologies (KNDI) Announced 1000 Electric Car Order For Rome

Kandi Technologies (KNDI) announced yesterday that it received a purchase order for 1000 pure electric vehicles for the Italian market from Share Corp.  The vehicles will be used in Rome initially to help curb pollution in the city.  The two companies will work together to bring electric cars to other major European cities.

Power One (PWER) Pops On News It Has Begun Shipping From China

Shares of Power-One (PWER) got a bump off  the bottom today when the company announced that it has begun shipping its 250kW and 500kw utility grade  inverter products from its new manufacturing facility in China.  It will have a capacity of 1GW by the end of this year.  The company said that the facility will also help meet the demands of the Indian market in addition to the Asian market.

A-Power Energy (APWR) Catches A Bid On $30 Million Biomass Plant Win

You don’t hear much about the wind business of A-Power Energy (APWR) anymore as the company clearly is becoming more of a distributed power systems EPC company.  That’s not bad news as long as the company continues to win these contracts which they have been doing in recent months.  Today, they announced a definitive contract to develop two 15MW biomass plants for the Xin County Guangchao Biomass Power Generation LCC for $30 million.  The project … Read the rest

American Superconductor (AMSC) Plunged Following Acquisition, Lowered Guidance

Shares of American Superconductor (AMSC) plunged to another 52 week low this morning with heavy volume after the company announced a $265 million acquisition of Finnish company The Switch and subsequently lowered guidance in the short term.  CEO Greg Yurek calling 2011 a “transition year” likely didn’t help the stock either.

Powersecure (POWR) Reports Mixed Results, But Record Revenue Backlog & Strong Margins

Powersecure (POWR) reported mixed results last night.  The company reported a non GAAP EPS of .02 which includes financials of the recently sold Southern Flow division (which led to a big pop in the stock Wednesday).  That EPS number was better than the flat quarter analysts expected, but the company missed just a bit on the revenue side posting $26.5 million vs the analyst estimate for $27.6 million.  However, the record revenue backlog of $150 … Read the rest
