Tri-Tech Holding (TRIT) Beats, Reaffirms Guidance

Tri-Tech Holding (TRIT), a top China water play, reported a Q2 EPS of $0.19, 6 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.13 this morning. China Intelligent Lighting (CIL) Reports Mixed Results, Guides Above

China Intelligent Lighting and Electronics (CIL) is reporting mixed Q2 results this morning, missing on the EPS side posting .18 vs the estimate of .20.  They beat on revenues posting $18.5 million vs the analyst estimate of $17.5 million.  It should be noted that these are the numbers of the lone analyst covering this company.  Sequentially and in comparison to the year ago quarter, those numbers do represent decent growth.  Quarter over quarter, it represents … Read the rest

Veeco Instruments (VECO) Surging On News Elec-Tech Will Use For 2 LED Plants

On July 19th, I passed along the post at Notable Calls saying that UBS was expecting a big LED order for both Veeco Instruments (VECO) and Aixtron (AIXG) from Elec-Tech.  This morning, Veeco is confirming a large order from Elec-Tech  for 130 of its TurboDisc K465i Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition, or MOCVD, systems as their “tool of choice” for two new LED factories in Wuhu and Yangzhou, China. Energy Focus (EFOI) Growth Remains On Track, Narrows Loss

Emerging LED lighting play Energy Focus (EFOI) reported earnings after the bell today and continued to narrow its losses, reporting an EPS loss of ($0.08) vs the year ago loss of ($0.16).  Revenues continue to improve as well, although much of that (55%) is due to the acquisition of Stone Rive Companies so not really comparing apples to apples here.  The company reported revenue of $9 million in the quarter, vs $3.3 million in the … Read the rest

Auriga Upgrades JA Solar (JASO) To Buy, Maintains Hold On Sunpower (SPWRA)

Auriga is out with a few solar calls this morning. 

It maintains its Hold rating on SunPower (SPWRA) with a price target of $12.
“The quality of SPWRA’s earnings continues to be a problem for us. Through the magic of non-GAAP accounting, SunPower was able to beat the Street consensus of $0.10, while on a GAAP basis the company recorded a loss of $0.06. UBS Downgraded Cree Inc (CREE) From Buy To Neutral

Aixtron AG (AIXG) Announces Order For LED Manufacturing Tools From Yangzhou Longyao

According to Street Insider, Aixtron AG (AIXG) has announced a substantial multiple order for additional MOCVD tools from Yangzhou Longyao, a LED manufacturing company in Yangzhou, China which is a subsidiary of Rainbow Optoelectronics Material Shanghai Co. Ltd., China, a long time customer of AIXTRON MOCVD equipment.  Details are vague and no word on the financials of the deal.

STR Holdings (STRI) Beats, Raises Guidance

STR Holdings (STRI) reported strong results after the bell today beating analyst estimates in the process.  The company reported a Q2 EPS of $0.44, 10 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.34 on revenue of $96.7 million, vs the estimate of $91 million.  That’s a more than tripling of profits over the year ago quarter and a 62% surge in revenues.  Those numbers may have the stock back at all time highs tomorrow.  STRI … Read the rest
