LDK Solar (LDK) has hit it out of the park today, smashing analyst estimates and guiding way above estimates for next quarter and the full year. The company reported a Q2 EPS of $0.36, 14 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.22 on revenues of $565.3 million, vs the estimate of $458.40 million. That’s good for jumps of 118% and 148% in EPS and revenue quarter over quarter respectively.
Sunpower (SPWRA) reported mixed results after the bell today, beating on the EPS side, but missing revenue forecasts. The company reported an EPS of .15/share, 5 cents ahead of expectations on revenues of $384 million which as a bit below expectations of $401 million. All in all, a strong quarter for Sunpower (SPWRA) though and the stock has been so crushed so bad that traders are likely looking for an excuse to buy in.
A123 Systems (AONE) is disappointing investors again after the bell today. The company reported another sizable loss and missed analyst expectations on both EPS and revenue. The company reported an EPS loss of .33 vs the analyst estimate of .27 on revenues of $22.6 million vs the estimate of $25.5 million. Cree, Inc. (CREE) reported results after the bell today that were a touch better than analyst estimates. The EPS came in at .55 vs the analyst estimate of .51 on revenues of $265 million vs the analyst estimate of $264 million. JA Solar (JASO) has reported strong earnings results this morning, beating analyst estimates and posting significant sequential and quarter over quarter growth. Traders are selling the news though with the stock down nearly 10% in early trading. Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) posted better than expected results after the bell today reporting a non GAAP Q2 loss of $0.06, vs the analyst estimate of ($0.07) on revenues of $44 million, vs the estimate of $43.41 million. While the EPS number was worse than the year ago quarter’s number of ($0.01), the company posted a 58% increase in revenues.
Canaccord Genuity downgraded Veeco Instruments (VECO) earlier today from Buy to Hold and slashed the price target from $58 to $39. Hat tip to Street Insider for the analyst comment.

ReneSola (SOL) posted a record quarter and beat analyst estimates in the process, posting a Q2 EPS of $0.42, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.40. Revenue for the quarter was 253.9 million, vs the estimate of $246.17 million. That’s a tripling of revenue over the year ago quarter, so mighty impressive results.
China Sunergy (CSUN) reported results this morning and while they missed slightly on the revenue number posting $117 million, they smashed EPS estimates with a profit surge of .33/share. That was nearly double the analyst estimate of .18/share and a new record for the company. It’s also more than double the EPS of last quarter and more than 10x the EPS from the year ago quarter.
