My how times have changed. You ever think you’d see a Chinese company sponsoring a US baseball team? Maybe not so surprising in today’s world. Canadian Solar (CSIQ) which is not a Canadian company, but a Chinese company, announced it will be a sponsor for the San Francisco Giants and together will launch the Score with Canadian Solar sweepstakes. Fans can go online to signup and win Giants paraphernalia for requesting solar installation quotes. It’s a perfect match no? Eh, not so much. Strange partnership indeed. Here’s an idea.. how about partnering with a US solar company? As it always is in business, this probably about the money.
CSIQ CEO Shawn Qu commented: “We are proud to be a sponsor of the San Francisco Giants, one of the oldest and most respected franchises in Major League Baseball. This elite organization, whose leading green business practices are in line with our own, is not only our local baseball team but also our partner in furthering the adoption of renewable energy and sustainability. In fact, AT&T Park is one of the greenest ballparks in the country. The San Francisco Giants are a solid partner for us, with some of the best fans and players in the country, and we look forward to working toward our common goal of a successful and environmentally-conscious season.”
