Appliance Recycling Centers of America just announced that their contract with Xcel Energy has been extended through the end of 2010. Under the contract, Appliance Recycling Centers of America will provide refrigerator recycling services to Xcel’s customers. Xcel is offering a $35 incentive to each residential customer who disposes of an old refrigerator, in order to encourage them to trade old appliances in for new, more efficient ones.
EnerNOC just announced that Boston’s Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center has chosen its CarbonTrak application to manage its carbon footprint. Another very impressive quarter for Cree Inc (CREE) and traders are responding after hours by sending the stock up nearly 10% back to the big resistance area around 60. It will be interesting to see if it can take out that level and find a new level of support. I’m skeptical and if I were holding this stock into earnings, I’d be taking some profits off the table into the gap up tomorrow.
Capstone Turbine (CPST) has received another order for its microturbines. This morning the company has announced that it has received a follow on order for four of its C65 microturbines from a growing data center in Houston, bringing the total to 13 at the site.

Capstone Turbine (CPST) has received $3 million in grants from the DOE and Israel’s Binational Industrial R&D Foundation. The grant from the DOE will go towards the development of a flex fuel microturbine capable of running on biofuels (mostly from agricultural crop waste).
