Ascent Solar (ASTI) Begins Production From Its Littleton, Colorado Line

Ascent Solar has begun producing monolithically integrated flexible CIGS modules at its Littleton, Colorado production line. This makes Ascent the first solar company to use a plastic substrate to produce fully integrated lightweight thin-film CIGS modules.

LDK Solar (LDK) Reports Steep Losses, Guides Lower

LDK Solar (LDK) is trading down about 10% in pre-market trading this morning after reporting a large 4Q loss and issuing disappointing guidance for next quarter.  The company reported a loss of $1.25/share which was much steeper than what analysts had expected (.84 loss) on revenues that actually beat estimates and represented a 121% increase over the year ago quarter.  The company ended the year with $255 million in cash and cash equivalents and $83 … Read the rest

Real Goods Solar (RSOL) Revenues Surge, Losses Mount

JA Solar (JASO) Up After Missing On EPS, Beating On Revenues

JA Solar (JASO) gapped up big out of the gates this morning after reporting a wider loss of .11/share on a non GAAP basis, but beating revenue estimates of $118 by reporting $143.5 in revenue.  It has reiterated its guidance for revenues this year in the range of $830 – 952 million which should put the company close to analyst expectations of $854 million.

Suntech’s (STP) Joint Venture Gemini Solar To Build Solar Power Plant in Austin

Gemini Solar, a joint venture between Suntech and MMA Renewable Ventures, has been selected to build a 30 MW solar power plant that will provide power for Austin, Texas. The plant, which should be online by the end of next year, will produce enough power for 5,000 homes and save 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide each year.

ReneSola (SOL) Raising 08 Outlook, Guides 09 Lower Than Estimates

ReneSola (SOL) is raising its 08 estimates this morning but lowering estimates for 09.  It sees Q4 sales sales of $157 – $159 million vs the consensus of $153.63.  For the full year 08 the company now expects sales of $669 million to $671 million vs its previous estimate of $640 – 670.  For 09, the outlook isn’t as rosy.  The company expects revenues in the range of $650 – $700 vs the consensus of … Read the rest

Trina Solar (TSL) Reports Loss But Beats Estimates

Trina Solar (TSL) reported results this morning with an EPS loss a bit lighter than expected at .03/share vs the estimate of a .04 loss.  Revenues were a bit better than expected as well at $216 million vs the analyst estimate of $201 million and exceeding the company’s previous guidance of $190 – $210.

Evergreen Solar (ESLR) Receives High Marks In Tests

Evergreen Solar’s ES-Series String Ribbon solar panel received the highest rating in a performance test performed by German test institute TÜV Rheinland Group. In the test, which is halfway completed, Evergreen Solar ‘s panels delivered the most kilowatt hours of electricity out of all 14 brands in the test. The test is still in progress-these results are for the first 6 months of what will be a year-long trial.

First Solar (FSLR) Pushing Further Into Utility Scale Solar Power With Purchase of OptiSolar

First Solar (FSLR) announced after the bell today that it will acquire all of OptiSolar’s project development business in an all stock transaction valued at approximately $400 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the 2nd quarter and includes:
