Suntech just announced that it has achieved another world record for multi-crystalline module conversion efficiency. In August, Suntech broke Sandia National Lab’s previous record of 15.5 percent. Now, it has broken its own record by achieving conversion efficiencies of 16.53%, as verified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.

ReneSola just announced that it has share purchase agreement to acquire Dynamic Green Energy. Dynamic Green owns Jiawei Solarchina Co and other subsidiaries, owns production facilities for solar ingots and PV modules and also assists other solar manufacturers with original equipment manufacturing. Under the agreement, ReneSola will gain ownership of all of Dynamic Energy’s shares in exchange for the following: 26,787,210 shiny new ordinary shares of ReneSola and a $10 million convertible promissory note.
Ascent Solar (ASTI) is moving up nearly 10% with good volume today after it announced this morning that it has signed a supply agreement with Goal Zero which will use over 30K ASTI solar modules in custom electronic portable power applications to arrive on the market next year.

Hoku’s Pocatello plant just got another reprieve. According to Reuters, Hoku just announced that construction will begin again on its Pocatello, Idaho plant. Under the change order agreement that Hoku entered into with construction company JH Kelly, Hoku will pay JH Kelly $5 million of the total $12 million that is past due. Sunpower (SPWRA) has designed and started construction earlier this year of Italy’s largest solar plant, called the Montalto di Casto project, it was announced today.
