Quantum will begin supplying the powertrain systems this fall to enable volume production which is expected to begin in February of next year. Forecasts call for the production of 15K Fisker Karma vehicles per year. Quantum is a co-founder of Fisker which not too long ago received more than a half billion in tax payer cash to develop an array of electric vehicles.
“Quantum is proud to be supporting Fisker by providing key Q-Drive™ plug-in hybrid powertrain components to enable the luxury high performance sedan, Karma, to excel in fuel economy and performance,” said Alan P. Niedzwiecki, the President and CEO of Quantum. “It is exciting to see Fisker moving quickly into the production phase.”
Shares of QTWW are trading up nearly 10% today, but remain mired in a long down trend and well below a buck a share.
