Quantum Fuel Tech (QTWW) is one of five companies selected to participate in a one year testing program with the US Postal Service to study the adoption of EV’s.  A successful study could pave the way for a mass adoption of EV’s by the USPS in the coming years.  Quantum will integrate its Quantum Quiet high efficiency drive system into a Grumman EV, designed specifically for the postal service which will require frequent stops over short distances.  Autoblog Green has a quick summary of recent developments by Congress to move the USPS fleet to electric.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Quantum’s Quiet electric drive system to the US Postal Service,” said Alan P. Niedzwiecki, President and CEO of Quantum. “We are glad to see the US Government continue to take a leadership role in greening our country and building a domestic EV industry.”

Shares of QTWW are off the morning highs but still up about 7%.  Shares have been pummeled in the past few weeks and now trade below a buck a share.  Might soon be an attractive lotto ticket down at these levels.
