Solarfun has just announced that it will increase its module capacity to 900Mw by August of this year in order to keep up with increased demand from customers. As part of this effort, the company also announced that it has purchased a 25MW cell production line from Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation. The purchase, along with Solarfun’s own previously announced expansion efforts, will increase its capacity to over 500MW by July.
ProLogis Renewable Energy just announced that it signed a new agreement with Southern California Edison for 100MW of power. The first phase of this agreement is an 11.1MW rooftop solar project covering 2.5 million square feet of roof space across five buildings. Southern California Edison will own and operate the system, and will pay ProLogis rent for use of its roof and construction management fees. SunPower has just announced that it has been selected to build a 1.3MW solar power plant in Italy for Solar Green Energy-SGE, a JV between EDF subsidiary EDF-EN Italia and Italian project developer Emmecidue. The plant, which is to be located in the Lazio region, will consist of 96-cell, E 18 / 305 solar panels and SunPower T0 Tracker systems.
Sunpower just announced that it has added an additional 40 MW of capacity to its contract for the development of the California Valley Solar Ranch for PG&E. That means that the completed plant will be 250MW, one of the largest solar PV plants in the world.
LDK Solar just announced that it has signed a supply agreement with Phoenix Solar. Per the agreement, LDK will provide Phoenix with approximately 20 megawatts of solar modules later this year.

Applied Materials just announced the opening of its new global manufacturing hub in Singapore. The Singapore Operations Center will produce advanced semiconductor equipment and is Applied Materials’ first Asian facility of its type. Applied Materials chose Singapore in part because it is close to many of the company’s existing customers and suppliers, and it plans to eventually employ 800 people at the center.
Hoku Materials just announced that it has actually started producing polysilicon at its Pocatello, Idaho facility. The plant is currently in a testing phase that it expected to last about 3 weeks.

GCL Solar Limited has just ordered 150 MW worth of 500kW solar PV inverters from Satcon Technology, according to a company announcement from Satcon. Satcon is scheduled to deliver the inverters in April through October of this year.
The two companies established a partnership in 2009 and have worked together on projects including China’s largest rooftop (MW) and largest ground-mounted (20MW) installations.

AES Solar, a JV between The AES Corporation and Riverstone Holdings LLC, just announced that it has closed on EUR173 million worth of financing for its planned Cellino San Marco project. The project will consist of a 43 MW solar PV plant in Italy’s Puglia region.
