Westport Innovations (WPRT) has announced that Vedder Transport of British Columbia will purchase 50 Peterbilt LNG trucks featuring their LNG engines, pumps and fuel injectors.  A few months ago Robert Transport of Quebec purchased 180 of these Peterbilt LNG trucks which has been the largest order to date.

“This is a significant order for LNG trucks in Western Canada,” said Clark Quintin, President of Westport’s HD division. “It further demonstrates that natural gas is rapidly becoming a mainstream fuel solution for the trucking industry in Canada. With the Province’s 33% carbon reduction target by 2020, substantial commitment from Vedder Transport and Terasen Gas to operate LNG trucks is helping the Province achieve this target.”

Shares of WPRT continue to trade in a long 9 month base and a breakout above the 20.62 with volume would provide a clear entry signal with the likelihood the stock is once again ready for the next leg up.  On the support side, the stock has been able to hold at support of the 200 day moving average (testing 4 times in the past few months), so a break below that level would indicate a larger correction may be in order.
