Quantum Fuel Systems (QTWW) signed a supply deal with Fisker Automotive about two months ago for solar roof modules and control components for the Q-Drive system. Today, they have announced an initial purchase order for supplying Q-Drive™ powertrain systems for the Fisker Karma.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide just announced that they have a signed a definitive supply agreement to provide Fisker Automotive with parts for the Q-Drive(TM) powertrain system that Fisker is using in the Fisker Karma. Per the agreement, Quantum Fuels will be the exclusive provider for the Q-Drive(TM) hybrid control systems and the solar roof module. Fisker has also agreed to pay Quantum a royalty payment for each Karma sold.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies’ affiliate Fisker just held the fist public driving demonstration for the Karma PHEV. The demonstration took placeduring the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The Karma can travel 50 miles on a full battery charge, and after that uses an efficient gasoline engine along with an onboard generator.
