LDK Solar (LDK) Lands 15MW Solar Supply Deal With Spain’s Gestamp Solar

LDK Solar (LDK) announced after the bell today that it has signed a contract to supply solar modules to Spain based Gestamp Asetym Solar. LDK Solar will provide 15.8MW of solar modules to Gestamp during the 3rd quarter.

Bloomberg: Spain Proposing Substantial Solar Subsidy Cuts

Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) Gets 3MW BIPV Solar Deal In Spain

Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) is announcing an agreement with Endesa in Spain to install 3MW of UNI-SOLAR(®) photovoltaic (PV) laminates on the rooftops of two Coca-Cola Company buildings in Seville.  ENER will manage construction of the project set to begin this quarter and includes the Uni-Solar laminates being bonded to Giscosa waterproofing and applied to the roof.  Endesa will own and manage the system which is expected to be completed within the next six … Read the rest

Trina Solar (TSL) Gets 108MW Supply Deal With PROINSO

Trina Solar (TSL) is announcing a new 108MW supply deal this morning with PROINSO, a European distributor of solar equipment.  Shipments are expected to begin soon and continue through the first half of next near with PROINSO having the option to purchase another 12MW in the first quarter of next year.  The solar modules will be sold at predetermined prices and will be used in projects in Spain and Italy.

Suntech Power (STP) Helps to Complete 2 Spain Solar Plants

Suntech Power (STP) and a + f (a subsidiary of Spain’s Gildemeister Group) worked together to complete two solar power plants in Spain.  STP supplied about half of the modules used to complete the plants in Alange (8.5MW) and Alconera (7.4MW) which will be enough power for around 9K households.

Piper Jaffray: Proposed 500MW Spain Cap A Positive For the Solars

The StreetInsider.com is out with comments from Piper Jaffray analyst Jesse Pichel on the Spain solar cap situation saying that the proposed 500 MW cap for 09 is a positive for the group.  “While we expect final outcome by early October, we believe Spain will not be as weak as expected in ’09, and that this proposal should help improve investor sentiment around Spain.”

Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) Reported Increasing Losses

Yesterday, Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT), reported a wider loss in fiscal year 08 despite a surge in revenues (although quarterly revenues have been decelerating over the past 2  quarters).  The net loss widened to 14.66 million on revenues of 4.77 million from 9.64 million in the previous year on revenues of 2.53 million.
