UQM Technologies (UQM) Partnering With ReGen Nautic On Hybrid Electric Marine Propulsion

I’ve been out on vacation for a few days so missed this press release, but on Aug 26th UQM Technologies (UQM) announced that it’s expanding into the hybrid marine propulsion business through a collaboration with ReGen Nautic.  Now if we could just do something about the damn noise of jet skis!

UQM will integrate its UQM PowerPhase hybrid electric systems into a variety of marine applications providing much better performance and fuel efficiency.  UQM systems are also used in Saab, Audi and Rolls Royce vehicles as well as Proterra buses.

“Our collaboration with ReGen Nautic showcases the additional growth opportunities when electric propulsion technology is introduced into industries beyond the automotive sector,” said Eric Ridenour, UQM Technologies President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe that combining the application knowledge of ReGen Nautic and the electric motor and controller expertise of our company, we can create systems that greatly improve efficiency, increase performance and offer additional benefits that apply to marine applications.”

Technically, shares of UQM are much improved with eight straight up days with clearance of the 50 day moving average today.  It should also be noted that the stock has cleared a 7 month downtrend with the week long surge.  In my opinion, the stock provides a nice entry point on a bit of a pull back off the eight day run up.
