Clean Energy Fuels just announced that AT&T has placed an order with Clean Energy Fuels’ subsidiary BAF Technologies to have 463 Ford E-250 vans converted to run on compressed natural gas.
The order is due in the second quarter of next year. Previously, AT&T placed an order for 463 van conversions that will be due in the first quarter of 2010. AT&T has also indicated that BAF should buy supplies for an additional 463 van conversions next year, although they have not actually placed an order yet.
In a company press release, Andrew J. Littlefair, Clean Energy President and CEO, commented on the orders:
“The new orders demonstrate AT&T’s determination to significantly alter its fleet to alternative-fuel vehicles. “They also reflect AT&T’s choice of BAF as a superior conversion specialist for their vehicles.”

It’s great to see more corporations paying attention to their supply line and products and how they affect the planet. Kudos to At&T. JohnsonDiversey, a company with operations in 175 countries, has just announced that it will assess the carbon footprint of every product they make and make this information available to the public. JohnsonDiversey is the same company that last month announced a tripling of its emissions reductions commitment by 2013. Here is more in depth detail about the company’s plans: http://bit.ly/jdaction
