Suntech (STP) Panels Sell Out

Suntech just announced that it has sold out of its solar panels through the second quarter of 2010. Reuters quotes Steve Chadima, vice president of external affairs at Suntech, explaining the situation:

“We were basically in a sold-out situation in Q4 and we’re in a sold-out situation at least through Q2. We’re basically selling anything we can produce and I know we’re not alone.”

Capstone Turbine (CPST) Receives Follow On Order For 4 C65 Microturbines

Capstone Turbine (CPST) has received another order for its microturbines.  This morning the company has announced that it has received a follow on order for four of its C65 microturbines from a growing data center in Houston, bringing the total to 13 at the site.

EnerNOC (ENOC) Adds 25MW to Ontario Power Authority Demand Response Contract

EnerNOC (ENOC) is adding another 25MW to its existing contract with the Ontario Power Authority for demand response services.  EnerNOC has been working with the OPA since spring of 2008 and the results have been very good.

Valence Technology (VLNC) Surges Back Above Buck On $3 Million Battery Order

Valence Technologies (VLNC) surged back above a buck today on a $3.1 million lithium battery order from Smith Electric Vehicles.. now if the company could just get an order from a company other than Smith, then I’ll get interested.  Valence provides both batteries and charging systems to Smith Electric for both the Smith Edison and Smith Newton electric vehicles which are apparently big in Europe.. just like the Hoff (David Hasselhoff that is 🙂  Delivery … Read the rest

Energy Focus (EFOI) Soars On $12.3 Million Efficient Lighting Contract

The purchase of Stones River Companies by Energy Focus (EFOI) is already paying big dividends.  The company announced that its new subsidiary has been awarded $12.3 million in new contracts across seven projects for efficient lighting retrofits which will reduce energy use and improve light quality.  The project are already underway and expected to be completed this year.

Sunpower (SPWRA) Installs 500KW Solar Power System For Harvard

Sunpower just announced that it has finished installing a 500KW solar power system for Harvard University. The system, which has been installed on top of the Arsenal on the Charles complex, was built with SunPower T5 Solar Roof Tile and should generate enough energy to power 83 homes, offsetting 367 metric tons of CO2 annually.

Capstone (CPST) Gets C1000 Microturbine Order, Shows Strong Technical Action

Capstone Turbine (CPST) has announced a new order for its C1000 1MW microturbine from a large consumer goods manufacturer in Chicago.  The turbine will be used to supplement utility power and heat water in the manufacturer’s 250K sq ft plant.   The company estimates the energy savings is the equivalent of removing 700 cars from the road and expects it to pay for itself within four years.

Xcel Energy (XEL) Debuts New Home Energy Management Ability for Customers

According to this press release, Xcel Energy just announced that its customers can now manage their energy use via their home computers, using a solution provided by Gridpoint. Right now, the service, which allows consumers to manage both their electric and natural gas usage for maximum efficiency, is only available in Colorado, but if it is successful, Xcel will deploy it across their entire territory.

Borg Warner (BWA) Turbocharger Technology Selected By Ford (F) For EcoBoost Engine

It was announced this morning that Borg Warner (BWA) will provide the turbocharger technology for the new Ford (F) fuel efficient EcoBoost engine to debut this year.  The combined turbocharging and fuel injection technology aims to increase fuel efficiency by 20%.

Nissan Selects Aerovironment (AVAV) For LEAF Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
