Constellation Energy (CEG) Chosen To Develop 15.9MW/DC PV Project In Maryland

Constellation Energy just announced that it has been chosen to develop a 15.9MW/DC solar PV project in Maryland under the Generating Clean Horizons Initiative. This project is part of a larger 17.1 MW DC project, which will be built operated and owned by Constellation Energy. When it’s completed in 2012, the installation will be the largest in Maryland. Energy from the installation will be purchased by the state under a 20-year purchase agreement.

Capstone Turbine (CPST) Projects Receive $1.6 Million In Stimulus Funding

Capstone Turbine just announced that 2 of the nine projects from Pennsylvania chosen to receive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding under Pennsylvania’s GreenWorks program were submitted by its Mid-Atlantic distributer, E-Finity Distributed Generation, and use Capstone’s technology.

The two projects will receive a combined $1.6 million in funding. They involve installing and maintaining a Capstone C1000 at Mount Joy Wire Corp and a Capstone C200 natural gas turbine at Philadelphia Gas Works.

Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) Awarded CNG Fueling Station Contract By Veolia Transportation

Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) continues to win CNG fueling development contracts in Cali and it’s scored another one this morning.  Veolia Tranportation Services, N. America’s largest private provider of public transit has awarded CLNE with a contract to build and operated a CNG fueling station in downtown LA.  Construction is set to begin in Jan 2010 and be completed in mid 2010.

Suntech Power (STP) Signs 3 Solar Supply Deals Totaling 490MW

Suntech Power (STP) is announcing this morning  it has secured solar supply agreements with three existing customers for up to 490MW to be delivered over the next three years.  The European customers include a reseller, and EPC company and a project developer.. no word on who those customers are but with a little digging we could probably find out.  No word on the financials either, but this is a substantial win for Suntech and the … Read the rest

Raser (RZ) Announces Agreement With Evergreen Clean Energy

Raser just announced that is has a new agreement with Evergreen Clean Energy, LLC that will finance the development of up to 100MW of geothermal power. Per the agreement, Evergreen will provide up to $30 million for each project, with the exact amount of financing depending on the project’s scope. Here’s how Evergreen’s funding should break down for a typical $30 million project: $25 million to fund the project, $5 million for participation rights.

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Gets $24.8 Million For Biofuels

Archer Daniels Midland just announced that is has received a $24.8 million grant from the Department of Energy to build a $36 million biofuels plant in Decatur, Illinois. The plant will focus on advancing biofuel technology.Construction should start next year and be completed by 2012. The remaining funding not covered by the grant will be drawn from private sources.

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) Soars As Solarfun (SOLF) Finally Pays Up

Analyst Rating Changes: STP, JASO Upgraded Again; BofA Starts ITRI At Buy

The upgrades keep coming in for Suntech Power (STP) and JA Solar (JASO).  Yesterday they were upgraded by Barclays and this morning Thomas Weisel is doing the same, upgrading both from Underweight to Market Weight.  Both stocks are holding yesterday’s breakout moves well despite heavy selling in the overall market today.  While it could be a rocky ride, solar stocks are increasingly showing signs that the bottom is in.

First Solar (FSLR), Enbridge (ENB) To Quadruple Size Of Sarnia Solar Project

Enbridge (ENB) and First Solar (FSLR) announced today an agreement to expand the Sarnia Solar Project from 20MW of capacity to 80MW, which when completed late next year, will make Sarnia the largest solar facility in N America.  Enbridge already acquired the first 20MW which went into commercial operation yesterday.

Ocean Power Tech (OPTT) Signs MOU With Oregon To Develop More Wave Power Along Coast
