Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Reconfirms/Announces 120MW In Recent Sales

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) is popping this morning after the company announces 120MW in existing and new sales.  30MW of that comes from Spanish company Systaic which is part of annual supply agreement announced last year, so nothing new here.  They don’t get into details in the press release, but they are also announcing it has signed or reconfirming another 90MW of solar modules to be delivered from June to October to 24 customers across Europe, … Read the rest

New Renewable Energy Stock: China Bio Energy (CBEH) Approved To Trade On Nasdaq

There’s a new renewable energy stock on the market-China Bio Energy has been approved to trade on the Nasdaq as of today. The company distributes both traditional petroleum products and biodiesel made from inedible seeds and leftover restaurant oil and grease.

Verenium (VRNM), BP Cellulosic Ethanol Highlands Parternship In Line For DOE Funding

The Verenium (VRNM) and BP cellulosic ethanol, 50/50 joint venture, now has the government behind it if the due diligence process goes well.  The companies announced today that their Highland project in Florida has been selected by the US Dept of Energy to enter into the due diligence phase of its loan guarantee program, which may provide guarantees for project debt covering up to 80% of costs.  They are expected to break ground on the … Read the rest

Verenium (VRNM) And BP (BP) To Start Next Phase Of Loan Negotations With DOE

BP and Verenium just announced that they have been selected by the Department of Energy to begin the next phase of negotiations for the DOE loan guarantee program. If BP and Verenium are approved, the government may guarantee up to 80% of loans needed to finance their jointly-owned cellulosic ethanol project, scheduled to start construction next year.

Rentech (RTK) Approaches Final Approval For Feedstock Jet Fuel

Rentech (RTK) may explode higher today on news it has stepped closer to providing jet fuel from feedstock

Specifications for synthetic jet fuel for commercial aviation use was passed by the aviation fuels subcommittee of ASTM International with final approval expected in the fall as long as the FAA is on board as well.

Raser Technologies (RZ) Potentially Adds 110 MW To Geothermal Power Pipeline

Raser Technologies (RZ) has entered into a term sheet with Southern California Public Power Authority to provide 110 MW of geothermal power to some SCPPA municipalities.  The SCPPA would pay an up front cost, then additional monthly payments to Raser at a reduced cost. Barrons: First Solar’s (FSLR) Largest Customer (Phoenix Solar) Warns, Stock Plunges Further And Headed to 150

According to Barron’s, First Solar’s (FSLR) largest customer Phoenix Solar (according to Hapoalim Securities analyst Gordon Johnson), has issued a warning, saying not to rely on previous earnings estimates due to a continued decline in pricing for solar modules, customer buying resistance and increased devaluation requirement for current inventories.  The company will only issue guidance once prices have stabilized but they do expect positive EBIT for the year.

Deutsche Bank Sees First Solar (FSLR) As Leader, But LowersPrice Target After Analyst Day

Correction: Deutsche Bank raised the target from $167 to $170

First Solar (FSLR) Expects Costs To Decline By One Third Over Next 5 Years

First Solar just announced that it expects to slash its manufacturing costs by a third over the next 5 years. The company expects to cut costs from 92 cents per watt to between 52 and 62 cents per watt. First Solar expects to achieve its cost per watt goals by improving the conversion efficiency of its cadmium telluride panels to somewhere between 16 and 18 percent.

Akeena Solar (AKNS) Completes 660kw Solar Installation For Cali National Guard

The Cali Air National Guard in Fresno will now be basking in the warm glow of solar electricity .. 600kw to be exact.  Akeena Solar (AKNS) just finished installing 3819 panels across three new carports which will provide enough power to supply one third of the total power at the base, resulting in $100k in annual cost savings.
