Trina Solar (TSL) Completes Largest Rooftop Installation In The US

Trina Solar has completed what is currently the largest rooftop solar array in the United States. The 2.4 Mw installation consists of 13,400 of Trina Solar’s solar modules installed on top of the Atlantic City Convention Center. It will meet about one quarter of the building’s energy needs and save about $4.4 million in energy costs over the next 20 years.

Raser Technologies (RZ) Signs Geothermal Lease Agreement With Copper King Mining

Raser Technologies just announced that it has signed a geothermal lease agreement with Copper King Mining. The lease includes a total of 75,000 acres scattered in various locations across Utah. Most of the acreage is located near Razer’s No 1 geothermal project in Beaver County, Utah.

SolarFun (SOLF) Reports Another Steep Loss, Sees Gradual Improvement

SunPower (SPWRA, SPWRB) Completes 1.1 MW System With Rancho California Water District

SunPower just announced the completion of a joint project with the Rancho California Water District.

The 1.1 MW project, located at the RCWD’s Murrietta water treatment plant, is now up and running. The project will provide emissions-free power to cover some of the energy used by the water treatment plant, saving the water district up to $6.8 million over the next 20 years.

Back To The Drawing Board For Energias De Portugal (EDPFY) Wave Park

Energias de Portugal has removed its Pelamis wave energy installation from the site of its proposed Agucadoura wave park off the coast of Portugal. The unit experienced a number of technical issues and had to be dismantled after only a few weeks in the water.

Collins Stewart has initiated coverage on Sunpower with a Sell rating and a price target of $20 due to the following:

Fuel Tech Awarded Air Pollution Control Contracts Totaling $2.1 Million

Fuel Tech (FTEK) announced some additional air pollution control contracts this morning totaling $2.1 million which include an order from an existing customer for NOxOUT(R) Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction Systems to be installed at two city solid waste incinerators in France.  Orders were also received for a commercial High Energy Reagent Technology system & several HERT demonstrations for nitrogen oxide control.

First Solar (FSLR) And Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association To Build 30 MW Solar Plant

First Solar just announced that it will work with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association to build a 30-MW solar power plant in Colfax County in northeastern New Mexico. The 5,000 solar modules will produce enough energy to power approximately 9,000 houses, and the plant is expected to be online by the end of next year. Ormat Technologies, Inc. (ORA) OREG-4 Peetz Project Up And Running

Ormat Technologies Inc just announced that its OREG-4 Peetz Recovered Energy Generation (REG) Project is up and running. The 4 MW power plant will recover waste heat from the exhaust of a gas turbine located in a compressor station that services a natural gas pipeline in the Denver area. The waste heat is converted to electricity and sold to Highline Electric Association Inc under a 20=year purchase agreement.
